In 2007 a grassroots movement lead a group of local Jazz enthusiasts to approach the Town of Collingwood and the Collingwood Downtown BIA wishing to present a series of Wednesday evening concerts using the Collingwood Museum/Station location. The 10 concert series called “Jazz at the Station” became very popular over the summer and the attendance built from under 100 at the first concert to 250+ at the last concert.

“Jazz at the Station” returned in 2008 with 10 concert series and drew excellent audiences for the outdoor concerts despite threatening weather on a few occasions.

The Collingwood Jazz and Blues Society was formed in September 2008 from that same group of enthusiasts. The Society was incorporated with non-profit status in December 2008. The society presently has 70+ members who volunteer time to assist in the production and operation of local Jazz and Blues events.
