Collingwood Jazz & Blues Society

Welcome Jazz Fans

In 2007 a grassroots movement lead a group of Collingwood Jazz enthusiasts with the support of the Town of Collingwood and the Downtown Collingwood BIA to present a series of Wednesday evening concerts at the Collingwood Museum/Station park. The series “Jazz at the Station” became very popular over the summer and the attendance built from under 100 at the first concert to averaging 250+ per concert at the 2010 series.
The Collingwood Jazz and Blues Society was incorporated with non-profit status in December 2008. The society presently has 70+ members who volunteer time to assist in the production and operation of Jazz and Blues events in the Collingwood - Blue Mountain area.

Society activities have expanded to include a “Jazz & Blues in the Schools” program that has presented well received concerts and workshops in every elementary and high school in Collingwood in 2010 and 2011. Our program does not replace existing music programs but augments them. We expose students to music they would not hear otherwise in today’s world.

The Society was a major part of the regional “Peak to Shore Festival” in 2009 and 2010 and will be a partner in the “Collingwood Arts, Jazz & Blues Festival” in August 2011.
The Society has presented a “Blues Series” of concerts in 2010 and 2011. Held in the Blue Mountain Foundation’s “Arts Centre” in historic Downtown Collingwood. These concerts in this beautiful Art Gallery present the cream of Canadian Blues artists and have been sellouts. Superb acoustics and an appreciative audience have made this series a favourite place to play for many of Canada’s premier blues artists.

The Society is  supported by memberships, sponsorships and concert door receipts. To become a member of the Jazz & Blues Society and assist us in our endeavors please go to the membership section of this site, we offer the convenient and secure Pay Pal payment system. We also offer memberships at all our concerts and events.
