Jazz at the Station - June 29 - Fig Leaf Jazz Band.
2011 is the 36th Anniversary of the Fig Leaf Jazz Band. Their music based on the traditional jazz of New Orleans has held up well over the years in the hands of these veterans. Jazz at the Station is pleased and proud to present “The Figs” in concert as a fitting opening to the 2011 series. The guys are always musically enthusiastic, their good natured banter on stage is  worth the price of admission. Like old cheese, they are aging well (and smell about the same).

Jazz at the Station - July  6 - Mike Branton & Friends
After making a name for himself as a young guitar prodigy, Mike Branton has evolved into a triple threat. His signature fluent and exciting guitar playing is described as “Michael Bloomfield meets T-Bone Walker and Buddy Guy, continually inventive improvisational soloing” Mike has now emerged as a highly talented and original singer and songwriter as well.Mike will be backed at the “Station” by “The Surprise Rythmn Section” who are no strangers to the Station regular audiences.

Jazz at the Station - July 13 - Jake Wilkinson Quartet.
Jake began his musical career at age 9, on the trombone. In 1990, after being inspired by the music of Chet Baker and Miles Davis, he switched to the trumpet. Since then, Jake has played at major venues and festivals around the world with such notable groups and musicians as: The Boss Brass, The Powder Blues Band, Andrew Scott, Long John Baldry, Bill King, Grant Stewart and Liberty Silver. He has released three recordings: the critically acclaimed jazz record, This Time, Walking On The World and The Game Of Love. Jake frequently plays jazz clubs and festivals across the country. Having spent extensive time living in both New York City and New Orleans, Jake now makes his home in Toronto. Jake will be joined by Lee Wallace, guitar, Ethan Ardelli, drums and Jon Meyer, bass.

Jazz at the Station - July 20 - ColdJack
A Canadian New Music award winner, Coldjack is a Canadian break-out band from Barrie, Ontario, featuring original material that is an energetic fusion of jazz/funk and R&B. Their live performances include smooth vocals, exciting horn lines, and funky grooves. John Fraser, the lead singer/songwriter, headlined the original Coldjack band in the U.K. in the 1990s. Two years ago, he re-formed Coldjack, reviving the original music and adding new material along with fellow band members Daryl Yaeger, Michael Kernen, Richard Howard and Marcus Davis.

Jazz at the Station - July 27 - Eddie Bullen  and Friends
Eddie Bullen is, in every way, a standout amongst the latest generation of multi-talented artists. Pianist, arranger, composer and producer Eddie's lengthy career has yielded an abundance of awards and recognition for his outstanding talents. From his first album, 'Nocturnal Affair' to his most recent 'Desert Rain', Eddie gives his audience a taste of contemporary jazz, flavoured with Caribbean and Latin rhythms."
Eddie keeps audiences in Canada, the US, Europe, the Far East and throughout the Caribbean on their feet and begging for more with his distinctive style. His compositions are audacious and sexy, titillating the senses.
Eddie brings a band with excellent players and there is always an  exciting surprise in the lineup.
Eddie has again been nominated for the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards as 2011 Pianist of the Year.

Jazz at the Station - August 10 - Michael Grace Trio & Janie Grice
This veteran group presents a warm sound of jazz and latin grooves. We’re very pleased to be presenting Michael Grace to Jazz at the Station one of the few artists who doubles on bass and saxophones. Mike is from Ann Arbor Michigan and has played with with Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Sonny Stitt and many other jazz legends.
Michael is one of originators of “Jazz in the Schools” in North America and was awarded the prestigious “Music Educator of the Year” award in 2008.
Joining Mike will be Rob “Jazzidlo” Gasidlo on piano, Bruce Campbell, drums and Janie Grice from New Orleans on vocals.

Jazz at the Station -  August 17 - Jordan John and the Blues Angels.
Jordan John is one of Canada’s rising musical stars, hisprimary instrument is drums, but four years ago he decided to take up guitar and front his own band and it is hard to believe he has only been playing for four years. His vocals are reminiscent of a young Aaron Neville and with Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famer Prakash’s harmonies and backing vocals, he is a joy to hear. Jordan’s repertoire spans a wide musical area and ranges from funky jazz and R&B to great readings of country songs delivered in his truly unique style. Jordan and the Blues Angels represented the Collingwood Jazz & Blues Society, the Town of Collingwood and Canada at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis and while they didn’t bring home the Gold opened lots eyes and ears and made a big impression on producers from all over the world.
